Odido opens its doors to students on Girls’ Day 2024

Today, for the fifth consecutive year, Odido welcomes girls aged 10 to 15 during Girls’ Day, a national initiative in which companies give young girls the opportunity to explore the world of technology and IT. Despite the crucial role of STEM, technology, and IT in our society, the number of women in these fields lags behind. Figures from the Expertise Center on Gender Diversity in STEM, technology, and IT show that the percentage of women in these fields is only 16%. As a technology-driven company, Odido has an interest in a growing talent pool of young technicians, both in numbers and in diversity.

This year, Odido offers 31 students from group 7 of the Gerth van Wijkschool in The Hague the opportunity to explore the world of STEM, technology, and IT. During workshops, presentations, and hands-on activities, the girls will discover the possibilities within these fields. Female tech employees are ready to share their passion and take the girls on an inspiring journey through the organization. In addition, Fairphone will provide an 'Urban Mining' workshop to make the girls aware of the value of their mobile phone by understanding where they come from, what materials are used, and under what conditions they are made.
