Odido optimizes mobile network: 3G to be phased out for more capacity on 4G and 5G

Today, Odido announces that the 3G technology will eventually be shut down to make room for the more modern 4G and 5G technology. This is a next step in further improving the customer experience following the recent activation of the new 3.5GHz frequencies. Odido will keep the 3G technology available until at least August 1, 2026, and will communicate the specific date of the discontinuation of 3G services at least six months in advance.

To create bandwidth for the growth of new 4G and 5G technologies, Odido announces today that it will bid farewell to its 3G/UMTS/HSPA network technology. By replacing outdated technologies and modernizing the network, Odido is focusing its services on the 4G and 5G network. This not only allows users to benefit from an even better network experience through the highly acclaimed 4G and 5G mobile networks, but the phasing out of 3G also contributes to further sustainability of the mobile network.

By phasing out 3G and applying new innovative software to the 4G and 5G networks that determines the current broadband demand, the networks become even more efficient. This allows capacity to be reduced during periods of lower demand, saving energy without compromising the user experience. Capacity automatically increases with rising demand. To ensure that customers can continue to rely on Odido's mobile networks, the telecom provider will extensively communicate the phase-out in various ways and guide customers step by step.
