Odido grants FC Utrecht sponsorship rights once to Sanquin
Following a 'one-two', Odido supports Sanquin in quest for more blood donors
During FC Utrecht's next home game, Odido will relinquish all its sponsorship rights to Sanquin. This move aims to draw attention on May 5th to the growing need for more blood and plasma donors. Sanquin's logo will then adorn the FC Utrecht jersey, and will also be visible on all other sponsorship materials such as the fieldside boards. Odido and FC Utrecht hope that this initiative will recruit more donors for Sanquin's vital work.
One-Two The special collaboration for the home game against Vitesse is a 'one-two' between Sanquin and Odido. Six months ago, Sanquin jokingly pointed out to the telecom company that some of Odido's marketing materials closely resembled Sanquin's branding. Odido then took up the challenge in its own sporting way and proposed using the sponsorship of FC Utrecht to highlight the importance of finding new blood and plasma donors. Both parties hope that fans in the stadium and those watching live at home will sign up as new donors to Sanquin via the special landing page sanquin.nl/fcutrecht.
Connection
Leo Hensen, Head of Marketing & Communications Mass Market at Odido, stated, "Our partnership with FC Utrecht is characterized by connection and humanity. After Sanquin's sporting invitation, it was a logical choice for us to leverage our role as the main sponsor of FC Utrecht to give the, quite literally life-saving, work of Sanquin the attention it deserves. This way, we can bridge the gap between Sanquin and potential new donors." Joyce Veekman, Director of Communication and Marketing at Sanquin, looks forward to the match, stating, "Odido proves to be a committed partner in Sanquin's search for new blood and plasma donors, for which we are very grateful. With blood or plasma donation, our donors give literal hope, future, and life to thousands of patients in the Netherlands. We hope that all of Utrecht will show its best side and sign up as donors."
Thijs van Es, General Manager of FC Utrecht, added, "We at FC Utrecht are proud that our main sponsor Odido is making its position available for this important cause. It shows Odido's warm commitment to the community and our joint efforts to contribute to a healthier future."
One in Fifty
Only one in fifty people donate blood or plasma, while one in four people will need blood at some point in their lives. Blood is vital for people with cancer, victims of accidents, and patients who lose a lot of blood during surgeries or childbirth. Additionally, blood components are used for developing medications for more than 100 different diseases. Fresh blood is always needed due to its limited shelf life. In 2024, the Utrecht region still requires 4,000 new blood and plasma donors, partly because current donors sometimes have to stop due to age, personal circumstances, or health reasons.
