Odido Joins United Nations Global Compact

Odido joins UN Global Compact which encourages companies around the world to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies. By signing the Global Compact, Odido further strengthens its commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. The provider joins a broad coalition of companies, organisations and governments worldwide that have embedded sustainability in its strategy, in line with the United Nations' ten principles and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

Through its participation in the Global Compact, Odido pledges to uphold human rights, ensure fair labor conditions, safeguard the environment, and combat corruption.  

Social inclusion at the forefront 
Introduced in September 2023 as a telecom provider with a distinct approach, Odido, under the motto 'It can also be like this', the provider announced its intention to make technology more human. By supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing the mental well-being of young people and organizing smartphone workshops for the elderly, Odido places a strong emphasis on fostering social inclusion. 

For the organisation, inclusion is a key ambition. According to the provider, the "Everyone is included" mission starts with its own employees. Odido is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive working environment where everyone feels welcome, safe and can be themselves. 

Advancing sustainability goals 
Odido is fervently committed to the sustainability of its operations. For instance, it aims to reduce its own greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2028 by using fewer materials and extending the lifespan of its products. Odido has committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its sustainability goals. With this, the provider has its formulated targets validated to confirm whether they actually contribute to reducing CO2 emissions. Odido has also already taken a number of concrete steps to realise its sustainability ambitions, including making full use of 100% renewable energy, fully electrifying its own fleet and no longer using packaging material made of virgin plastic in the logistics chain. 

Human rights in the chain 
Earlier, Odido became a member of the Joint Alliance for CSR (JAC). An association of telecom providers aiming to monitor, assess and develop the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the production centers of major multinational suppliers to the ICT industry. 

Harmony between technology and humanity

In existence since 2000, the UN Global Compact is the world's largest initiative for sustainability and corporate social responsibility in business. The initiative now has more than 17,000 member companies in over 160 countries.  

Odido will report annually on its progress on sustainability and corporate social responsibility through a report (Communication on Progress (CoP).
